Are you thinking about buying a standard office software platform to install right across your business?
Do you need every PC to have all the same software and want to ensure all your staff have access to word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software?
Are you about to make the same mistake as nearly every other business?
Stop ! Don't do it!By doing something slightly out of the ordinary, depending on your company's size you can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in license fees and still have all of the above software installed right across your business. Just because every other company in the world uses certain software, does not mean it is the best and most cost effective. There are real free alternatives.
To good to be true? No its a fact. There a large number of communities and organisations who are creating free versions of popular software which is just as good and sometimes better than their costly rivals, and its absolutely free with no catches.
Openoffice.org for example provides excellent free versions of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. These look and feel very similar to more well known software and have some additional features. You also do not have to worry about compatability issues with your existing software and files as they can read your old files and produce new files in the old formats.
Openoffice.org is just an example, by doing some research of your own you will find open source and free versions for most software applications.
So why are not all businesses going down this free route? Ask your IT manager today why your business is paying for software like this when there are perfectly good (better) free options available. Make sure he/she gives you a good answer. You could save a fortune.
